Personally, I hate the word “unrealistic,” it is to close to “impossible” and “can’t,” but I definitely get where is coming from. Dan says that if he could change anything about his past he would not have started all of those foolish business endeavors that ultimately ended in failure. He says that he entered those ventures out of desperation, which doomed them from the start. He is not saying that you should act with urgency but desperation will make you try anything.
